Midsummer ritual

Supplies:

Bowl full of dried lavender

Small muslin bags (or small cloth bundles) filled with edible seeds like pumpkin and sunflower.

Note: If you cannot do this ritual outside around a small bonfire, you can substitute a cauldron or large bowl filled with candles, and use only a small amount of lavender instead of a handful.

All enter the circle.

Consecrate and cleanse the circle by passing sage—or have someone walk around the outside of the circle with sage or incense. (You may want to use a large feather to waft the smoke toward people.)

Consecrate and cleanse the circle by passing salt and water—or have one circle member walk around sprinkling salt, then another follow sprinkling water.

Cast the circle by having the High Priestess or High Priest walk around the outside of the circle with an athame or sword pointing at the ground. (See Chapter 17 for words to say if so desired.)

Call the quarters.
